Top Tips

  • Have your cake as dessert or buy from the high street and let your florist decorate it.
  • Get married later in the day, then you don't have to feed your guests twice.
  • Marry out of season or on a week day.
  • Make a list and prioritise.
  • Ask a relative to act as a chaufer.
  • Re-use flower arrangements at the different areas ( between the church and venue).
  • The cheapest can be a false economy.
  • Shop around.
  • Bear in mind portfolios, CD's or brochures will show the suppliers best work.
  • Have an open mind, plans always change along the way.
  • Don't expect perfection. ( It's the bloopers that you laugh about after wards)
  • Have CD music for the ceremony and wedding breakfast, need for live music.
  • Always negotiate with suppliers: not always to get discount but maybe getting add ons…
  • Consider corkage: it may be cheaper.
  • Check that all prices include VAT.
  • Make the wedding personal and unique to you.
  • Be prepared: There will come a time that you are going to start stressing.
  • Always allow more time than you think you need.
  • Write a timeline or running order of the day. Give a copy to the suppliers so that they know when they must be on the day.
  • Plan some time with your husband on the wedding day. Maybe meet up each and every hour.
  • Arrange activities for yourself and your husband for after the wedding.
  • Get everything in writing - the person can leave the company and then you don't have anything in writing.
